What is the reason for this notice?
As part of Honda’s continuous quality monitoring activities, we have become aware that a safety defect exists in some 2012 and 2013 model year TRX500FE & TRX500FM vehicles.
Models effected by this recall: 2012 and 2013 model year TRX500FE & TRX500FM vehicles. Note:TRX500 models equipped with Electric Power Steering are not affected by this recall.
Details of the symptom
Due to a manufacturing error, some steering shafts were slightly bent and may have been cracked, which could result in the shaft breaking while the ATV is in operation. If that occurs, the rider could lose steering control and crash.
Action to be taken by Honda.
Replacement of steering shaft on effected models
What should you do now?
Call any authorised Honda ATV dealer and make an appointment to have the steering shaft on your TRX500 inspected and, if necessary, replaced with a new one. It will take approximately 2 hours. but please make your vehicle available for one day to assist with dealer workshop scheduling.
All work undertaken in relation to this safety recall will be completed free of charge.
